This may be a bit premature but I'd like to get a feel for what people think about this date.
Given the late time frame of putting this together, its been discussed that we do the reunion around homecoming which is the weekend of November 2nd. We'd like to see if we can secure some seating for us and doing so will require us to get with the school for verification. Its would actually be a cool thing to do as the Friday Night meet and greet. I mean who doesn't remember hanging out at football games on Friday night..right? :)
Anyone I'm putting up a Poll to get an idea of what people think. Please respond to the poll. If you have other thoughts or ideas post them as well.

We don't really HAVE to have it this year. Since we're so late getting one together, why not just wait and do something nice next summer. Does it really matter if it's our 20 or 21 year if everyone wants to get together. I would rather do something nice and make plans well enough ahead of time so more people could make arrangements to come.

I agree with Tamie...we don't have to have it this year. I talked with Shane Lindsey ('88) last week and he said he thought it'd be pretty cool to have '87's and '88's at the same time. I can see some advantages to that...larger numbers, more folks we know, plenty of time to put it together, etc. Either way, we could take a full 12 months to locate people and make plans. Homecoming weekend is the first time I might could get down there....my wife is due to have our 4th the start of August, so we are about to hit the no travel stage in the next week or two.
T.C., do you know if Mike Sturdevant and Randy Nations have been made aware of this site?

It does not matter to me either. I am just excited about finally getting to see everyone again. I never heard about the 10 year reunion so I missed it. The idea of having a double reunion is kinda cool to me as I remember alot of the class of "88" as well. Either way we go, I am willing to help out. I will be getting out of the Army in June of next year and I would have plenty of time to help out then as well. Let me know.:)

I emailed Randy with the group I sent this out to and still have not recieived a reply form him. Bobby Maloney knows how to reach him so I think he's going to give it a shot. Frankly I tell eveyrone I know, its just a matter of spreading the word. I did get this site to #1 on google if you type Niceville class of 87 though :)

I personally don't have an issue with a joint venture. If you know anyone from 88, send them here. I can easily set up a class of 88 section and of course everyone can cross post. One thing I have considered is buying another domain name that is more generic so that we can basically have a central location for several years in and around ours. I mean I knew people from 84 to 89

I have spoken with Angie Miller (Woodcock) and she is supposed to be giving me all of the information from the ten year reunion that we gathered. I will try to go through that information when i get it and find out how many missing eagles we have, so we can get a list going. I will send out snail mail postcards to all who attended the 10 year reunion with this website address on it so we can get a gathering of the eagles, and get a better general consensus on when we want to try to have this reunion. I have tried on classmates.com twice to contact Randy Nations based on the post he had on that website and have not received a reply. Either way we decide to do a reunion is fine! It would be nice if we can do a missing eagle page on this site so we can get the word out as to who we're looking for!
I'll try to get the postcards out this week so we can get more logged on to this site, and maybe set up a P.O. Box for those who don't have computer access.

It would take some maneuvering with my work schedule to get down on Homecoming, but it’s not impossible. I may have to bribe a co-worker to take my shift.
If it’s too late to coordinate a full-blown reunion this year with all the trimmings, then maybe something of smaller scale at Homecoming would be a good warm-up to the real deal next Spring or Summer. We could gather as a group at the game then go out for drinks…and maybe a picnic on Saturday. If nothing else, it would provide a good opportunity for fact-to-face discussion about the bigger reunion – and fun to boot!

All right guys, with the poll at 76% to do it homecoming weekend, I think it's time for us to get serious and try to get the word out a little more and get some planning going. Sherry Marcolongo has some contacts w/ some hotels, along with Mario Roberts (Colon in school). I talked to Chris Teel and he said that Keith Thornsberry that graduated with us is the manager at Fudpucker's in Destin. That may be a possibility for Saturday Night. The Solaris dinner cruise was mentioned, but it only holds 150 people total. The Children's park was mentioned by Jaque Head, a great idea for an early Saturday lunch for a family get together or Sunday lunch. At the ten year reunion, there was a low turnout for Sunday, so maybe we should concentrate on just friday and saturday. Sherri Marcolongo is also friends with the owner of Helen Back, and that may be a place to go for the meet and greet after the football game on Friday. Anyone want to step up and do some leg work on this stuff? We need to have a meeting SOON to get things going. WE HAVE THE TIME IF WE GET STARTED NOW!!!

I'm bumping this thread again. Please vote if you want some say so in time frame. We want to make this as successful as possible and get the best turn out we can. However, at the same time we really need to get some sort of response so that those of trying to plan this thing can get something done.
Right now we are looking strongly at the 2nd of November based upon poll. I know this can be difficult for people with children in school. But again, we need some feed back. I'll be sending out another email blast to those registered.

I voted for homecoming weekend, but it makes no difference to me. I'll do what I can to be there whatever weekend the reunion is held.
Can't wait to see all of you again!

Come on people put in your opinions. 22 people have voted at this point and we have 58 people signed up on the site. Lets make this successful and get as much input as possible.

I originally voted for Homecoming weekend, but the other suggestions of holding it next summer sounded even better. John and I would like to come either way, but if it's next summer our children will be able to join us and we could make it an actual vacation.

Let's do something small scale for November, look for more classmates in the months to come and plan a fabulous reunion next summer!

We could always just have a small reunion in November, a pay as you go type thing and then just plan on a REALLY BIG 25th reunion........ That way there would be no commitments and deposits that have to be met. Maybe plan or announce where to meet, and then go from there. Either way, doesnt matter. If we do decide to do something in November, we are running out of time.

A small scale event this year followed by a 25 year reunion sounds like a good idea. We definitely need more time to try and contact as many people as possible, and more time to plan would be beneficial.
How do the rest of you feel?

I agree to the suggestion of a small scale reunion in November and a larger reunion for 25years. My commute is only an 1 1/2 hour so I will be able to make it whenever, just as long as I am given notice to be able to take time off.

I agree with a "small" reunion this November and a larger 25th!
Looking forward to seeing old friends again.:)
